Scholarship Disbursement Programme, Sep 30, 2012

The seventh Scholarship Disbursement For Meritorious Students under the aegis of Prerana, Infosys, Mangalore, Vidyaposhak, Dharwad, Dhrithi Foundation, Mangaluru, Yakshagana Kalaranga, Udupi and Bevinje Sridhara Kakkillaya Foundation, Kasaragod was held on 30th September 2012 at Infosys Campus, Kottara, Mangalore. Sri VK Talithaya, CEO, Primacy Industries, Mangalore, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

A total of 573 students, including those pursuing professional courses, from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts and from North Karnataka, were supported to the tune of Rs. 22,33,272. Out of this Rs. 17,21,047 was contributed by Prerana, Infosys, Mangalore and the rest by other donors of Dhrithi Foundation, Vidyaposhak, Dharwad, and Supraja Foundation, Hong Kong.

The total amount of scholarship provided to students from Dkashina Kannada by Dhrithi Foundation-Vidyapohak and Prerana was Rs. 9,92,725, of which Rs. 4,80,500 was provided by Prerana, Rs. 260225 by Vidyaposhak, Dharwad andSupraja Foundation, Hong Kong (through Vidyaposhak, Dharwad), and Rs 2,52,000 by Dhrithi Foundation donors. Of this, R. 2,92,500 was provided to 141 newly selected students and Rs. 7,00,225 was provided to 188 renewals.

This is the seventh year that Prerana, Vidya Poshak and Dhrithi Foundation are extending support to the needy meritorious students of Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Talithaya emphasized on discipline, time management, responsibility towards building a better society for tomorrow and the contribution of individuals.

Dr. Srinivas Kakkilaya, Secretary, Dhrithi Foundation, explained the motives of the Vidyaposhak initiative and Harish Pejavar, Treasurer, Dhrithi Foundation, administered the oath to the beneficiary students. Mr. BV Kakkillaya from Bevinje Sridhar Kakkillaya Foundation and Mrs. Niveditha Shetty from Prerana, graced the occasion. Mr. Murali Kadekar from Yakshagana Kalaranga proposed the vote of thanks. Vinay from Infosys compered the programme.

Ms. Indumathi, an alumnus of Dhrithi-Prerana, now working as lecturer at Govind Dasa College, Suratkal after her MCom from Mangalore University and Ashwini, an alumnus of Yakshagana Kalaranga-Prerana, now working at Infosys Mangalore, narrated their experiences and thanked these organisatons for their support in realising their dreams.

This was followed by an interactive session by Rama Prasad from Infosys on Life Skills, Attitude which was well appreciated by all the students.
